Something amazing happened to me this evening. What was supposed to be some straight up, good fun, tribal pow wow with me and the BFF turned into a profound one on one conversation with big impact. All week I was in a bit of a contemplation funk around some of my intentions and the prospect of bringing them to fruition.
For example … my intention has been to join the 6am club. As in I am up before 6am and be on my spin bike in my office for an hour before the morning routine begins, this has a number of other intentions wrapped into it, around my fitness goals, and coming into alignment for my day.
Well, I have not be staying true to this 2012 intention.
WHY? Well here is how the conversation started. “I want to get up at 6am every morning but I am really tired and feeling lazy!” BFF response,.. “SO What, and change your BUT to an AND!”… this is so common sense to me “but” sometimes even a coach forgets her own words.. HA HA.. did you catch that .. So now let’s flip this all around. I want to get up at 6am every morning AND I am really tired and feeling lazy. Now that sounds more possible doesn’t it? The second statement with the subtle change gives an entire new perspective. The facts are still the facts, I will be getting up at 6am, there will be some tired & some lazy. Now it suddenly feels possible for me to do it in spite of the fact that I will feel tired and lazy, I have stopped ruling out the intention with an excuse.
So, What statement do you need to remove the BUT and put in the AND?
What would it look like to change one pattern in your life?
What subtle change in your life could create a monumental shift in your perspective?
OK, get to work and see you at 6am.
Never underestimate the power of a simple conversation to ignite the fire you need to manifest your intentions.
